You have done Beethoven a great service

Dear Mr. Zander:

I just finished listening to your rendition of the Beethoven 9th and all I can say is "GREAT." The tempi you have taken is what I call truly Beethovenian and you have brought Ludwig to life with this performance. The march in the 4th move. took my breath away. The 3rd movement really cast a
light on his romantic side and again the tempi and performance done to perfection. You have done Beethoven a great service.

Up until now my favorite CD of the 9th was with John Eliot Gardiner but now it will have to take a back seat to your recording.

As a lover of Beethoven's music for the past 55 years, I don't count my first 10, I seem to have been on a quest for what I consider to be performances as close, if not definitive, to what Beethoven would have wanted. Beethoven is indeed looking down from above saying "Ah! At last it is being performed the way I wanted it to be."

I could tell you what I think of the work movement by movement but it would all add up to the same thing, GREAT. Bravo Maestro.

I look forward in anticipation to your recording of the Eroica, as a matter of fact I look forward to the remaining Beethoven Symphonies.
