Warm Thanks
Dear Maestro Zander
From a 70 year old, warm thanks for one of the most wonderful music
evenings of my life - and I have been a regular concert goer right through
my adult years. Your pre-concert talk was informative, entertaining and
inspirational. Pictures at an Exhibition has long been a special
favourite of mine and, up to last night, the most memorable performance I
have attended was in Vienna in 2002 in the magnificent Concert House.
However, you gave such insights and then led a truly outstanding
performance by the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra which fully justified the
standing ovation from a delighted audience.
Thank you too for "dragging by the hair" to Cape Town the spectacularly
gifted Gabriela Montero who did full justice to Rach 2 and gave such
pleasure with her subsequent improvisations. It is clear that she is a
lovely person as well as outstanding concert pianist.
Music has been a delight for me all these years and it is people like you
who bring it to life and provide such added value. I hope that you enjoy
your stay in our beautiful Cape Town, and that you have been able to find
a little time to listen to our very special FINE MUSIC RADIO 101.3 which
provides ongoing delight.
Sincerely
Dick Reed
